Project overview

A school rooted in its community

CODA (Community Development Association) Nursery and Primary School is a refugee-led community school located in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda.

Established in 2015, the school now serves around 600 refugee and local host community students, providing daily meals and sustainable agricultural learning.

The Altenburg Foundation has been supporting CODA with assistance towards the school’s feeding programme as well as teacher salaries. We were especially happy to commission carpentry graduates from P4T, our other partner in Kyangwali, to provide classroom furniture for the children and teachers.

Who the project serves

Refugee and host communities learning together

CODA serves children from both refugee families and the surrounding host community in Kyangwali.

Its community-led model connects classroom learning, daily nutrition and practical agricultural knowledge within one local school environment.
