Project overview

Learning and lending shaped for rural communities

Mayankho works with rural communities in Southern Malawi to provide a pathway to sustained financial independence. They support women and youth to successfully navigate the earliest years of growing a business.

The Altenburg Foundation began a four-year programme of financial support to enable Mayankho to maintain core operations, strengthen loan recovery mechanisms and to improve their programme outcomes while continuing to build a more sustainable and diversified funding base for the future.

Who the project serves

Women and young people building livelihoods

The project works with people in rural Malawi whose business ideas can be constrained by limited access to skills, lending and operational support.

Training and finance are brought together so that enterprise development is supported by practical knowledge as well as capital.
