Project overview

Community leadership at the centre

The Altenburg Foundation has been supporting P4T since 2018 through funding for their education programmes, including teacher salaries, a feeding programme for children, provision of computer facilities, the installation of solar power and provision of books and learning materials for the school.

In addition, we were able to secure the construction of the first phase of the secondary school and have supported them in successfully finding resources to complete and equip the rest of this school, as well to build and run a dedicated vocational skills training centre and establish an organisation-wide feeding programme. Among other revenue-generating initiatives, we have set up a guest house which offers a base for visitors and volunteers, as well as training opportunities for the hospitality industry.

We are proud to support P4T in their mission to provide education, skills training, health and wellbeing services to their community.

Who the project serves

A community-led response in Kyangwali

P4T is a community-led organisation based in western Uganda, serving refugee communities in the Kyangwali settlement.

The community includes more than 150,000 people displaced from DR Congo, South Sudan, Burundi and Rwanda. Due to its location, the settlement is one of the key entry points to Uganda for refugees fleeing the multi-layered crises of DRC in particular. P4T’s work is shaped by people who understand the settlement’s needs from within.
